Currently, the offerings include the following: Introduction to Calculus, Differential Calculus Through Data & Modeling, Calculus: Single Variable Part 1 – Functions, and more. There’s even an Applied Calculus with Python for those wanting to flex their coding muscles, too!

edX Calculus Courses

edX Calculus Courses are some of the best around (as well as free)! Created by Harvard and MIT, edX is another popular massive open online course (MOOC) provider. If you’re okay with less personalized learning, then one of their courses might be right up your alley.

Courses currently offered include the following: Calculus Applied!, Calculus 1A: Differentiation, Calculus 1B: Integration (application of integration), and so on. There’s even Precalculus and Trigonometry (trigonometric functions) if you need a prerequisite brush-up!

FreeCodeCamp 12-Hour Calculus Course

It’s hard to beat free! Whether you’re interested in software development, video game design, or machine learning, calculus definitely comes in handy. If you want to learn it quickly, then Calculus in 12-hours by FreeCodeCamp might be just the ticket!

Developed by Dr. Linda Green (of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), this online class combines two courses (Calculus 1 and a Calculus 1 Corequisite). Concepts covered include applications of derivatives, related rates, implicit differentiation, and more.

Khan Academy Calculus I

Khan Academy Calculus I offers everything from limits to curve sketching to indefinite integrals of common functions. The course also provides a “Course Challenge” that allows students to test what they’ve learned through the class.

This course is free. Khan Academy is known for offering world-class courses without charge. Keep in mind that even though Khan Academy does offer free courses, it relies on generous donations to provide its services as a nonprofit.

MIT Mathematics

As part of one of the most prestigious universities in the world, MIT Mathematics offers free online calculus courses. Do keep in mind, however, that it currently costs $50-100 to earn a verified certificate (which is still a great bargain).

As of publication of this guide, MIT Mathematics offers three calculus courses, four differential equations courses, and a Laplace transform course. Note: even though you can earn a verified certificate, this does not mean a student gets an MIT transcript.

Outlier Calculus I

Outlier Calculus I, which is part of curricula that’s advertised as being 80% less than traditional college, uses an evidence-based approach while providing an interactive, convenient & accessible learning experience.

Unlike other courses on this list, the Outlier Calculus I course is currently $400 (with monthly payment option available). An advantage of this course is that, upon completion, you can transfer three college credits to your school of choice!

StraighterLine General Calculus I

Looking for flexibility while learning various calculus principles like derivatives, limits, integrals, and more? StraighterLine General Calculus I allows a student to work at their own pace. It also comes with free 10 hours of live one-on-one tutoring!

Along with being super flexible with lessons, you can take tests when you’re ready. Course materials, including e-textbooks, are included. Course typically takes 30 days or less, and credits are transferable upon completion.

Thinkwell Homeschool Online Calculus Course

The Calculus Online Course by Thinkwell Homeschool is approved by the University of California and on their A-G course list. What makes this course appealing is that, along with the presence of Professor Edward Burger, it covers both Calculus I and Calculus II!

Keep in mind that, unlike several other courses on this list, this class is currently $189. This can be paid, however, through four interest-free installments. You can also opt for printed notes and live office hours & tutoring support at an additional cost.

Udemy Calculus Courses

Offered through another large, for-profit massive open online course (MOOC) provider, Udemy Calculus Courses are reasonably priced courses ideal for those looking at a career in engineering, software development, or the sciences.

Currently, calculus courses on Udemy include the following: Become a Calculus 1 Master, Become a Calculus 2 Master, Become a Calculus 3 Master, Introduction to Differentiation (Differential Calculus), and Applied Calculus in Engineering.

University of North Dakota Calculus I

Last but not least, we have the University of North Dakota’s (UND) Calculus I Online College Course. This course covers the following: limits, continuity, differentiation, Mean Value Theorem, integration and Fundamental Theorem of Calculus.

One of the main advantages of this course is that you are given three to nine months to complete it. This flexibility, coupled with affordability and easily transferred credits, makes this UND online calculus course a winner!
