You know that “P” at the end of “ASCAP?” It stands for “Publishers,” and there’s a good reason why it’s there. Behind every great songwriter or composer in our ranks there’s a music publishing company (or several!), administering copyrights and collecting the other half of the performance royalties we send out monthly. But starting a publishing company is more than just a great business idea for music creators. Since each publishing name has to be unique, it’s also an opportunity to get creative – something that ASCAP members happen to be really good at.
