“I really thought about ways to create an atmosphere that would be welcoming to families. Sometimes when there is a BC game at home. I see three generations coming here. Family parties of grandparents, their children and their grandchildren — by “grandchildren” I mean current BC students. I am very customer-oriented. I respect them and I find that customers respect us.
At one point I wrote the “10 commandments of Pino’s”. I had them printed on the menu. They represent my philosophy of running a business. This is not an empire. It is a small store. [editor’s note: The list includes rules for employees to follow covering: cleanliness, honesty, respectful behavior toward the business and the customers, and quality work standards.]
We have won awards, but I don’t care to just sit on the praise of the past. We don’t put our plaques on the wall. I am more concerned with what we are doing today and what the customer wants today.”
