Public Golf Courses on Oahu

Unlike other Hawaiian islands like Maui, Oahu doesn’t have a wide range of golf resorts from which to choose. However, it does offer a few excellent championship courses, which have hosted games like the LPGA Hawaiian Open. Unfortunately, the best golf courses on Oahu require a little bit of driving as they are not located in Honolulu. However, you will find them well worth the drive, and it will get you seeing parts of the island that most visitors never get to see.

Turtle Bay

Turtle Bay is a golf resort located on Oahu’s North Shore. It is actually home to two 18-hole golf courses: the Palmer Course and the Fazio Course. The Palmer course was designed by Arnold Palmer. It is a championship course and up until 2008 was home to the Champions Tour Turtle Bay Championship. The Fazio course was designed by George Fazio and has played host to the LPGA Hawaiian Open. In addition, Turtle Bay Golf Resort has a Pro Shop and a bar and grill. The resort offers three different rates: Kamaaina rates, which are for those that are residents of the state of Hawaii; standard visitor rates and hotel guest rates. For those making the long drive from Honolulu to Turtle Bay, consider also trying out the resort’s other facilities, such as the day spa or horse riding stables.
