We’ll kick things off with one of my all-time favorite places to eat by the water in Key West, Latitudes.
This restaurant is located over on Sunset Key inside the Sunset Key Cottage hotel, a little slice of paradise within paradise here in Key West.
What I love about this place is that you’re literally dining on an island, so technically everything there is a waterfront attraction.
The view from the outdoor dining patio here at Latitudes is unrivaled, you’ll feel like you’re on a remote island in the Bahamas while you enjoy delicious fish and shellfish.
Half Shell Raw Bar

Half Shell Raw Bar is another Key West fixture that everyone should visit, even if you’re not planning to eat by the water (but let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to do that?).
Half Shell is located right next to the Yankee Freedom Dry Tortugas Ferry with a beautiful view of the marina.
It gets even cooler because this place is actually built inside of a renovated shrimp-packing facility.
I love to come here and watch the boats come and go while I sip on a cocktail and order some food. Of course, I usually go for oysters.
Hot Tin Roof Restaurant

Right inside the Ocean Key Resort & Spa next to Mallory Square is a place called Hot Tin Roof Restaurant.
This is the ideal place for anyone just stepping off or getting ready to board one of the cruise ships next door.
The food here is amazing, but what really ties it all together is the picturesque view of the water you’re afforded from up on their open-air patios overlooking Sunset Key.
What I usually order from Hot Tin Roof is a classic mojito and an order of their empanadas.

There is no better way to wind down after a long day of fishing or sunbathing than by enjoying a meal here.
Louie’s Backyard

Up next is Louie’s Backyard. This Key West waterfront restaurant is, hands-down, one of my favorite places to eat by the water.
They have a massive surfside dock with an outdoor bar that sits just above the waveline.
You can pretty much reach out and touch the crystal-clear water while you eat.
I always go for whatever the fresh catch of the day is here, but there are so many more delicious menu items to choose from like the grilled double lamb chops or the grilled veal chop if you prefer something land-based.
Salute! On The Beach

If you’re in the mood for some incredible Italian cuisine right on the beach, then Salute!
On The Beach is the place for you.
This oceanfront restaurant is so close to the water, you can stick your toes in the sand right from your dinner table.
Salute! On The Beach is located right off of Atlantic Boulevard on Higgs Memorial Beach Park, just within walking distance to the Casa Marina Key West hotel.
When you get to Salute! I highly recommend starting with steamed mussels in white wine, it’s absolutely mind-blowing.
After that, I’d definitely go with the filet mignon.
Southernmost Beach Cafe
1405 Duval St, Key West, FL 33040

This next place is called Southernmost Beach Cafe and it gets its name from its location near the Southernmost Point of the Continental US tourist attraction, all the way at the end of famous Duval Street.
Southernmost Beach Cafe is where to get breakfast in Key West when you want to start your day with some amazing French toast and a view of the ocean.
Well, that’s usually how I go about it, but their menu is certainly not lacking in other delicious breakfast options.
Another thing I suggest trying is their croissant breakfast sandwich, it’s absolutely delectable.
A&B Lobster House
700 Front St, Key West, FL 33040
Phone: 305-294-5880
Visit Website
A&B Lobster house is a harborside restaurant with spectacular views of the water and all the boats coming in and out of the harbor.
There’s just something so mesmerizing about watching all the vessels come and go while you eat.
Since it’s called A&B Lobster House, it would be criminal to order anything other than lobster here.
I always find it hard to resist their 2-pound Maine lobster, but if you’ve never had Caribbean lobster, then you really should consider giving that one a go.
Both are viable options, and they’re even better when you eat outside by the water.
Sunset Pier
0 Duval St, Key West, FL 33040
Phone: 305-296-7701
RED : 100 Game Day Snacks
Another great place to eat in the Ocean Key Resort & Spa is a place called Sunset Pier.
Of course, you don’t have to come here at sunset, but I’m telling you there are very few other places you would rather be than here during that time.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a better view of the sunset in Key West.
This place is great because you can order a drink inside of a hand-carved coconut monkey head, and you get to keep the cup!
I usually get it filled with the cocomonkey margarita for a delicious, refreshing drink.
Schooner Wharf Bar
202 William St, Key West, FL 33040
Phone: 305-292-9520
Visit Website
Up next is Schooner Wharf Bar and this place is hard to beat if you ask me. Schooner Wharf Bar overlooks the harbor, offering incredible views of all the boats, as well as easy access for any hungry mariners.
They have so many tasty menu items here that it’ll definitely take a while before you find your favorite, if you can even pick just one.
I think my favorite menu item is a toss-up between the mahi melt and the fish n’ chips. They also have a full-service bar for all your thirst-quenching needs.
SHOR American Seafood Grill
601 Front St, Key West, FL 33040
Phone: 305-809-4000
Visit Website
SHOR American Seafood Grill is the next waterfront restaurant I want to mention and it’s located on Front Street inside the Hyatt Centric Key West Resort & Spa, so if you’re looking for a great place to stay in Key West, you’ll find that here too.
What I love about SHOR is that it’s so bright and airy that you just feel relaxed and comfortable the whole time you’re there.
They have a massive waterfront patio you can dine on, as well as a spacious indoor dining room that’s equally lovely.
I am a huge fan of their whole fried fish.
Turtle Kraals
231 Margaret St, Key West, FL 33040
Phone: 305-294-2640
Visit Website
Last up is Turtle Kraals over on Margaret Street, right near the Sails To Rails Museum at Flagler Station, and they offer some of the best views of the water while you eat.
I highly recommend trying one of their signature cocktails when you head over to Turtle Kraals.
My favorite is the Tower Lemonade, but they have another called the Captain’s Mai Tai that is simply wonderful, and they pack quite a punch.
As for food, I recommend some conch fritters or oysters on the half shell, but the menu is anything but small, so you’re bound to find something delicious.
Final Thoughts
Well, that’s all for Key West Waterfront Restaurants.
As you can see, it’s not about quantity, it’s about quality, and these are, by far, the best waterfront restaurants Key West has to offer, in my opinion.
If you start to get a bit thirsty during your trip to Key West, be sure to check out these fun watering holes!
