What Now San Diego caught up with Connor Stevens of commercial real estate company, Retail Insite, who have partnered with Mercato @ Sorrento owners Festival Companies out of Los Angeles. The food hall is part of larger plans to revitalize the shopping center, which Stevens says has not been updated in close to thirty years.
Exciting news lies ahead for Mercato @ Sorrento and Retail Insite is negotiating additional food hall and retail tenants to announce soon.
In the meantime, renovations to the structure continue by Festival Companies alongside partners Rebel Design. Inside the food hall, each tenant will have individual control over their back of house updates.
Owner Balvir Gahunian has operated Sitar Indian Cuisine as a staple at the shopping center’s original food court and will return soon to continue serving the local community. Gahunian tells us there are a lot of changes being made that will debut upon their reopening. Sitar Indian Cuisine serves a variety of authentic Indian dishes, with gluten free options, vegetarian, vegan, or hearty meat dishes.
Gahunian projects the reopening of Sitar Indian Cuisine by June 2022. Visit their Website for more information.
