Sitting on the patio at Spencer’s at the foot of the San Jacinto Mountains, where you’re blissfully in shade starting in mid-afternoon, is the embodiment of gracious Palm Springs Living that probably enticed you to visit to begin with: There’s nothing quite sitting beneath the embrace of its mature trees and sipping an iced tea, eating a Maine lobster club sandwich, or nursing a cool white wine as you hear the distant pock of tennis balls in play. There’s also an indoor dining room for those overly hot days. Spencer’s has been a beloved place for lunch or dinner—and in particular for Sunday brunch—for years, probably because dining here, where the food blends American standbys (ranging wedge salad to breast of Sonoma duck) with lightly Asian twists, makes every guest feel like they’re a member of a country club.
