With one of the strongest value-oriented municipal golf systems in the country, Spokane is an under-the-radar destination. Three Spokane County courses offer pristine conditions and friendly vibes for less than $50, and the penchant of locals to bring their own golf carts reflects the quirk of the greater area.
Of the four City of Spokane layouts, Indian Canyon Golf Course is the standout. Dating to 1935, it is a pure Northwestern course with tall trees lining fairways and plenty of challenge and slope on the greens. Thanks to a multi-million-dollar renovation project in 2018 and 2019, “The Canyon” is set up for more decades of enjoyment by locals and visitors.
Spokane is also a great jumping-off point to several other Pacific Northwest golf hotspots. Gamble Sands is two hours west and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, is just an hour east.
