The 38 Best Restaurants in Bangkok

Despite what you may have heard, the street isn’t the only place to eat in Thailand’s vibrant capital. Yes, you should make a point of indulging at the city’s peerless roadside stalls — particularly in Bangkok’s Chinatown — but that’s not to say you should neglect the city’s restaurants, which run the gamut from semi-open-air stalls in old town to sophisticated, fine dining destinations in the Silom neighborhood. Bangkok newbies should consider a meal in a mall, many of which are found in the Siam area, where menus and signs are in English and you can sample a hearty slice of the Thai culinary repertoire in one seating. And Bangkok vets pivot to the city’s increasingly sophisticated foreign offerings, many located in the Sukhumvit area, when weary of rice and noodles. The common thread is that, in Bangkok, even the fancy places are fun, informal, and a great value.
