The Men’s and Women’s U.S. Open Sites From Now Through 2050 — That We Know Of – Morning Read

The USGA’s long-term agreement with Oakmont and Merion sets the stage for a lot of championship golf in the Keystone State.

Fans of classic, tough golf courses are in for a treat based on the USGA’s announcement that it is in a long-term agreement with Oakmont and Merion to host its most prestigious championships on the Pennsylvania courses between now and 2050.

Here’s the breakdown on what we learned from the announcement. The events in bold are new:

The announcement came as Oakmont, located on the outskirts of Pittsburgh, is hosting this week’s U.S. Amateur. 

This marks Oakmont’s 17th USGA championships, identifying winners such as Dustin Johnson (U.S. Open, 2016), Paula Creamer (U.S. Women’s Open, 2010), Ernie Els (U.S. Open, 1994), Patty Sheehan (U.S. Women’s Open, 1992), Johnny Miller (U.S. Open, 1973), Jack Nicklaus (U.S. Open, 1962), Ben Hogan (U.S. Open, 1953), and Bob Jones (U.S. Amateur, 1925).

Oakmont was previously announced as the host site for the 2025 U.S. Open, but will now add the following — U.S. Open (2034, 2042 and 2049), U.S. Women’s Open (2028 and 2038), the Walker Cup Match (2033) and U.S. Women’s Amateur (2046).

Merion, located across the state in Ardmore, just outside of Philadelphia, was already slated to the host next year’s 2022 Curtis Cup Match and the 2026 U.S. Amateur. It has been awarded the U.S. Open in 2030 and 2050, along with the 2034 and 2046 U.S. Women’s Open.
