The history of this unique restaurant is part of what makes it so special. The building was originally built in 1892, but was expanded in 1899 and 1904.
Rookwood Pottery was founded by Maria Longworth Storer in 1880, making it one of the first manufacturing companies in the United States to be founded and headed by a woman, according to the restaurant's website.
Rookwood Pottery was also the first American ceramics company to gain recognition for its artistry, as American ceramics were looked down upon at the time of the company's establishment. Several famous artists and talented students came here to work, using rare methods that produced stunning pieces of pottery that sold for as much as $350,000.
Today, the transformation of the building is truly incredible to see and think about. (You can even dine in some of the kilns now.)
For small groups (or double dates), you can book private dining in a kiln room—which takes your dining experience here to a whole other level.
The food itself is unbelievably delicious, taking a unique twist on American classics.
(Pictured is the Mac N Cheese.) The Dressed Hanky Panky's and Barnsdale Burger are two highly recommended menu items here.

Seasonal patio seating is also available (weather permitting) on the large deck, which features stunning panoramic views of downtown Cincinnati and the Ohio River.
And at night, the twinkle lights make the patio seating downright romantic. <3
