Top 6 Virginia Beach Rooftop Bars

Virginia Beach is a vibrant coastal city located on the southeastern coast of Virginia, where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean.

Visitors flock to this popular destination all year long to explore the city’s rich history, entertainment, and culture.

A popular resort city, Virginia Beach is primarily suburban and the largest city in the Hampton Roads metropolitan area.

There are pristine beaches, top-notch hotels, and excellent restaurants offering all types of cuisine. Virginia Beach features several districts, all with their own distinct vibe.

For example, the Town Center is a hot spot for Virginia nightlife, while the Sandbridge Beach area offers a quiet evening for two.

Whether you’re visiting the Oceanfront district, Sandbridge Beach, or the Town Center, one of my favorite things to do is find a place to unwind after a long day in the sun. These are my favorite rooftop bars when visiting Virginia beach.

Ocean House Waterfront Seafood

1905 Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
Phone: 757-425-8600

The Ocean House Waterfront Seafood Restaurant is located on the boardwalk in the Oceanfront district.

It features some of the best seafood in the area like the Baja Style Fish and the popular Rockfish basket. Of course, you can’t leave without trying the sweet fried plantains that will melt in your mouth.

With over 150 tequilas and mezcals, the Ocean House is one of my favorite places for a cocktail with friends.

We like to meet at the rooftop bar known as “The Tree House” to people watch, take in some of the best views of the beach, and wind down with a few famous Virginia cocktails.

Orion’s Roof

Located in the Marriott Resort in the Oceanfront District, Orion’s Roof features a modern rooftop setting, perfect for drinks and an elegant meal under the stars.

It features a unique Asian fusion cuisine, from Asian street food to roasted lamb and duck.

While we visited with only two people in our party, the restaurant offers parties of 10+ a private dining experience complete with a fantastic meal, specialty cocktails, and sake.

Reservations are required, but the restaurant provides a 2hr—parking validation to help while you dine.

Harvest

The Harvest is another great place to dine if you’re in the mood for a farm-to-beach experience. Located on the corner of 18th and Atlantic Ave, it provides a casual atmosphere while serving only the freshest ingredients acquired from local Virginia Beach farms.

We enjoyed breakfast at the rooftop lounge while sipping on coffee and mimosas; my favorite was the Lavender Honey.

The service was one of a kind, the views were spectacular, and the fresh ocean air was the icing on the cake.

Grain

The Grain is located at the Hilton in nearby Norfolk, Virginia. The rooftop venue offers spectacular views of the Elizabeth River, over 100 beers on tap, and a laid-back atmosphere.

We played a game of lawn chess in the garden while enjoying the open-air patio, fire pit, and live music.

Known for its craft brewing and culinary flavor, this restaurant has one of my favorite rooftop beer gardens I’ve ever visited.

So, if you’re in the mood for a little craft beer, live entertainment, and fun and games, give the Grain a try.

RiVive Pool Bar & Grill

501 Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
Phone: 757-422-3186

Located on the seventh floor of the Beach Quarters Resort Hotel on Atlantic Ave, the RiVive Pool Bar always delivers if you’re looking for that beach party vibe.

It’s a great place to chill, enjoy the pool, and sip on a few margaritas.

The pool area was pretty crowded when we visited, and parking was difficult, but the drinks were inexpensive, and the atmosphere was top-notch.

Sky Bar

3001 Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
Phone: 757-213-3000
Visit Website

The Sky Bar offers a unique, one-of-a-kind experience twenty stories in the air.

Located on the roof of the Hilton in Virginia Beach, this seasonal hotspot features fantastic views, live entertainment, and exceptional specialty cocktails while enjoying one of the VIP igloo lounges.

While the menu is not extensive in the igloo lounge, it provides classic appetizers like seafood sliders, a shrimp cocktail, and a signature charcuterie board.

Beer, wine, and cocktails are served, but the signature Andes mint hot chocolate is my favorite. There’s nothing like gazing at the stars in an igloo on top of a hotel resort. It’s quite the experience!

Final Thoughts

Virginia Beach is a popular travel destination all year long; however, the best time to visit is in the spring and summer when the weather is pleasant, and the entertainment is popping.

The area is rich in history, arts, entertainment, and culture, but Virginia Beach offers some of the best rooftop bars after a long day of exploring.

Whether you’re looking for a casual evening for two or an elegant dinner with cocktails, there is something in Virginia Beach for everyone.
