The United Parcel Service, or UPS, is the world’s largest package delivery company with more than 495,000 employees connecting more than 220 nations. Founded in Seattle in 1907 as the American Messenger Co., today’s UPS delivers approximately 5.5 billion packages annually through its 500-plus supply chain facilities in more than 125 countries. In recent years, the company has benefited greatly from a partnership with Amazon, which paid UPS $11.3 billion in 2020 for shipping services, representing 13.3% of the company’s revenue in a year in which millions of people around the world spent much of the time confined to their homes, owing to coronavirus-related lockdowns.
