Amelia National Golf & Country Club is home to a magnificent signature Tom Fazio designed golf course considered by many as one of the most visually spectacular layouts in the country. Fazio sought to create a golf course that closely followed the topography allowing a seamless transition between nature and an excellent round of golf. Hazards in the form of lakes and swales are sprinkled throughout with bunkers strategically positioned around the fairways and greens. The slope/rating of 143/76 of the stellar course built for championship play, while the many tees make it playable for members and regular golfers. The entire experience of Amelia National is geared to those well acquainted with the world’s finest private golf clubs. For more information visit AmeliaNationalGolf.com.

Amelia River Golf Club is one of the most prestigious courses in all of north Florida sculpted around a forest of live oaks, sabal palms, loblolly pines and wax myrtles, known for its incredibly smooth TifEagle greens, manicured fairways, and variety of challenging holes.  Managed by ClubCorp, the par 72 challenging track was designed by Tom Jackson and plays to a yardage of 6823 yards where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. With contrasting styles throughout, some of the holes play to wide-open fairways that remind you of the windswept links of Scotland and others meander through forests. The signature 17th hole, a par 3 playing 164 yards from the tips surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to an island green. Different level players will enjoy the five sets of tees available. Visit AmeliaRiverGolf.com to book your tee times.

Fernandina Beach Golf Club is the oldest golf club on the Island with three 9-hole courses designed by the Head Professional who was there at the time. In 1956 they opened with a single 9-hole layout much to the applause of the golfing residents who had to travel north to Georgia or south to Jacksonville to play a round. All three nines stretch out over 3,000 yards on a flat canvas of land but complement each other when combined to make a full 18 which allows for additional play that the locals love. FBGC is a  great municipal layout with reasonable pricing and managed by Billy Casper Golf. For more information please visit FernandinaBeachGolfClub.com.

Golf Club at North Hampton is an Arnold Palmer Signature design stretching to 7,080 yards, considered by many as one of his finest layouts with a 75/144 slope/rating and challenges throughout. I played the day it opened and never forget the starter asking our handicaps and telling us which tee to play, ‘otherwise you will not have a good time here.’ The course has a plethora of sand waste areas, bunkers protecting undulating greens and 10 significant water bodies to stay clear of. I recommend a practice round to learn the nuances of North Hampton and then go test your mettle playing to score well. There are six sets of tees to enjoy the layout comfortably. Director of Golf Blaze Grinn and his excellent staff will make your day a pleasant experience whether a full field tournament, a family golf outing or a buddy trip. Visit GCNorthHampton.com.
